Behringer Umc22 App3/18/2021
I have a similar problem - the noise is like a quiet dial-up modem, whistling away in the back ground.Hello all, I come to you looking for some advice concerning a really annoying and persistent issue with my new UMC22 (a few days old).
So, Im in an apartment building (college student) and I run some KRK Rokit 6. I use XLR to TRS 14 connection from each speaker, and run them into the UMC22. I also made sure that my PC (custom built desktop), speakers, and monitor are all connected to the same power strip to avoid ground loop issues. My issue is that Im getting some very obvious USB interference noise (crackly white noise with digital, saw-wave-esque undertones that are fairly high pitched). It isnt super loud, but it is quite noticeable from my normal listening position when theres either no or very quiet audio playback. Also, the sound is present only in the cones, not the tweeters. I have tried to troubleshoot using my old audio interface (M-Audio MobilePre), and my laptop. Also tried different power and audio cables which didnt have an effect. However, the odd thing I noticed is that when connecting the UMC22 to my laptop via the USB, the noise disappears. Nothing about the way my cables are arranged changes, I just swap the USB to my laptop and thats it. I even tried connecting the laptop to the power strip to charge to see if it would send any noise to the speakers, but it didnt change anything. ![]() So, the problem is only present in the specific scenario where I combo the UMC22 with my desktop. Behringer Umc22 App Drivers To NoIve tried every USB port, and uninstallingreinstalling drivers to no avail. Ive even unplugged every device except the interface from my motherboard, and the UMC22 still picks up noise. Also, interestingly, when I use the 14 headphone jack on the front of the UMC22 with my Beyerdynamic DT990s, there is absolutely no noise present, even at max gain. Is the interface at fault here, considering my old interface doesnt pick up this USB noise Im not sure if the UMC22 is bad, or just more sensitive to the power traffic through PC. Is there any way to remedy this issue, or should I just return the UMC22 I appreciate any insight or replies. Thank you. Did you try different USB cables These can really make a difference. Some of them even come with a hf filter (the thick lump usually sitting next to one end of the cable). You may as well try to connect one input or output to a device that has a better ground connection.
